What is the biggest convention centre in Bangalore?
BIEC on Tumkur Road is Bangalore’s largest exhibition and convention venue: five halls with 77,200 sq m of covered space, and a convention centre whose largest hall, Jacaranda (1,368 sq m), seats about 1,400 theatre-style. Among hotels, The Leela Bhartiya City lists ballrooms up to 1,500 and Sheraton Grand Brigade Gateway about 1,000.
Every figure below comes from the venue’s own page, its rate card, or a meetings directory, linked in the table. Directories often disagree, so each row carries a confidence mark: H for an official venue or operator page, M where directories agree, L for a single or conflicting listing. Last checked October 2026. We confirm the layout-specific number with the venue before any quote.
Venue mistakes surface on the day. By then they cost double.
- The capacity was for theatre rows.You booked for a 700-person gala dinner in a room listed at 1,000. At round tables it seats far fewer.
- The LED wall does not fit under the ceiling.Chandeliers and low soffits limit screen height. We check clear height and rigging before the stage is drawn.
- The load-in slot is at 2 am.Hotels with back-to-back bookings give production a narrow window. We confirm access times in the contract.
- Delegates spend the morning in traffic.A venue that is perfect on paper can be ninety minutes from where your people work. Cluster matters as much as capacity.
What we check on a site visit before we trust a number
- Layout-specific capacity: theatre, classroom, banquet rounds, cocktail
- Clear ceiling height, rigging points and floor loading for stage and LED
- Power: in-house supply, generator position and backup changeover
- Load-in route, goods lift size and the access window on the contract
- Breakout rooms on the same floor, and the walk time between them
- Coach bays, parking and the drop-off queue at the registration peak
- Green room, VIP holding and a quiet room for speakers
- Whether any part of the programme is outdoors after 10 pm

BIEC official rates (2025–26 rate card)
BIEC is one of the few Bangalore venues that publishes its prices. These are bare-hall rates — staging, AV, catering and décor are extra. Hotels usually quote a per-delegate package instead.

Theatre, banquet and why the numbers drop
A room’s headline capacity is almost always theatre style — chairs in rows. Put the same room in banquet rounds for a gala dinner and it typically seats about 55–70% of the theatre figure, because tables, service aisles and a dance floor take the space.
- Taj Yeshwantpur Aura: 800 theatre → roughly 440–560 at rounds (our estimate from the rule of thumb)
- BIEC Jacaranda: ≈1,400 theatre → roughly 770–980 at rounds
- Sheraton Grand Brigade Gateway: ≈1,000 → roughly 550–700 at rounds
When a listing breaks the rule — one directory shows Shangri-La’s Grand Ballroom at 900 auditorium and 1,200 banquet — it usually means the two figures were measured for different layouts or include a pre-function area. That is a reason to ask, not a reason to book. Stage depth, an LED wall and a front-of-house desk can take another 10–15% of the floor; we draw the plan to scale before we confirm a number.
Where Bangalore’s big rooms are
Capacity narrows the list. Where your delegates are coming from decides it.
Tumkur Road
BIEC, and resort options such as Golden Palms at Nelamangala. Exhibition scale and 1,000+ conferences. Plan coaches — it is a long run from the south and east of the city.
Whitefield
KTPO Trade Centre and Sheraton Grand Whitefield. Best when most delegates work in the eastern IT corridor and should not cross the city.
Central and CBD
Shangri-La (Palace Road), JW Marriott (Vittal Mallya Road), ITC Gardenia (Residency Road) and The Leela Palace (Old Airport Road). Leadership summits, award nights and invite-only events up to about 600–900.
North and North-West
The Leela Bhartiya City (Thanisandra), Taj Yeshwantpur and Sheraton Grand Brigade Gateway. Large pillarless ballrooms on the city’s northern side, a shorter run to the airport road than the south and east.
Airport and Devanahalli
Taj Bangalore, Clarks Exotica and, further out, JW Marriott Prestige Golfshire at Nandi Hills. For national meets where most people fly in and leave the same evening.
