Concert venues in BangaloreThe ground looks big enough. The curfew decides the show.
A sourced guide to Bangalore’s concert grounds, convention halls and auditoria — what each listing says, where the neighbours are, and what to check before you put a deposit down.
What is the biggest concert venue in Bangalore?
Bangalore has no dedicated concert arena. The largest shows now use open grounds on the city edge, such as NICE Grounds at Madavara and Embassy International Riding School at Devanahalli, after Palace Grounds stopped hosting big concerts. Indoors, BIEC on Tumkur Road lists 77,200 sq m across five halls; Chowdiah Memorial Hall seats about 1,100.
Every figure below comes from the venue’s own page, a directory listing or a news report, linked in the table. None of them is a licensed crowd capacity: that number is set for each event by the venue and the authorities. Each row carries a confidence mark — H for an official page or a direct report, M for a single credible listing or report, L where listings conflict. We confirm the layout-specific number with the venue before any quote.
Concert venues fail in ways a site visit at noon will not show you.
- The neighbours end the night.Open-air loudspeakers stop at 10 pm under the Noise Pollution Rules (Noise Pollution Rules 2000, rule 5), and residential neighbours complain sooner. Central lawns carry that risk.
- The ground floods or turns to dust.Bare grounds need flooring, drainage and dust control. We walk the surface and plan matting before the stage is drawn.
- Nobody can get there, or leave.Organisers have reported that edge-of-city sites create traffic towards the airport (Deccan Herald, Nov 2024). Transfers, parking and cab bays are part of the venue choice.
- The power is not there. Most grounds need generators for the stage, sound, light and LED, plus backup. We size power to the rider, not the brochure.
Concert grounds in Bangalore: open-air options
These are the open grounds used or reported for large concerts. None publishes an official crowd capacity, so we do not print one; the number is approved per event.
| Venue | Area | What the listing or report says | Watch for | Conf. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NICE Grounds | Madavara, Tumkur Road side | Open ground used for large ticketed concerts, e.g. a December 2024 tour stop with gates at 4 pm and the show to about 11 pm (Filmibeat) | Distance from the city centre; transfers and parking | M |
| Embassy International Riding School | Devanahalli, ≈27 km north | 240-acre campus (Embassy Group); hosted a two-day, five-stage music festival in December 2022 (Explocity listing) | Festival-scale build; airport-road traffic | M |
| Manpho Convention Centre grounds | Nagavara, by Manyata Tech Park | Grounds used for an international jazz concert moved there to be closer to the centre (Rolling Stone India); Hall No.1 listed at 1,000 guests, 10,000 sq ft (Spalba) | Listings conflict on total capacity | L |
| Jayamahal Palace Hotel lawns | Jayamahal Road, central | Front lawn listed at 2,000 seated / 3,500 floating; Golden Lawn 1,200 / 2,500 (WeddingBazaar listing); hosted a 2023 fusion concert (Explocity) | Residents nearby; noise complaints reported (Deccan Herald, Nov 2024) | M |
| Palace Grounds | Jayamahal / Palace Road | Hosted the city’s biggest rock shows until 2011; has since stopped big concerts after a legal dispute and a restriction on commercial use (Deccan Herald, Nov 2024) | Check current status before planning | H |
Indoor concert venues: halls, auditoria and convention centres
Indoor halls count as closed premises under the noise rules, so the 10 pm loudspeaker restriction does not apply in the same way (Noise Pollution Rules 2000, rule 5). The venue’s own timings still do.
| Venue | Area | Listed capacity (approx.) | Best for | Conf. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BIEC | Tumkur Road | 5 halls, 77,200 sq m; Jacaranda hall 1,368 sq m, ≈1,400 theatre (BIEC) | Indoor concerts and expo-scale shows; later finish than open air | H |
| KTPO Trade Centre | Whitefield | AC hall ≈5,371 sq m (Wikipedia); Hall B-1 listed 2,500–3,000 theatre, conflicting (Spalba) | Corporate concerts near the IT corridor | M/L |
| Chowdiah Memorial Hall | Malleswaram | ≈1,100 seats; violin-shaped hall opened 1980 (Wikipedia) | Seated classical, jazz, ghazal and acoustic concerts | M |
| Jayamahal Palace Hotel convention hall | Jayamahal Road | 1,200 seated / 2,500 floating (WeddingBazaar listing) | Indoor corporate concerts and award nights | M |
| Bangalore International Centre | Domlur | Auditorium 180 seats; rooftop terrace up to 200 (BIC) | Intimate recitals and talks; hire must fit BIC’s guidelines | H |

How to judge a concert venue in Bangalore
The questions we ask every venue before a concert goes on hold.
- Curfew: when must amplified sound stop, and is the site open air or closed premises?
- Neighbours: are there homes, hospitals or schools close enough to complain?
- Ownership: is it government land? Private events on government premises now need prior permission (The Tribune, Oct 2025).
- Crowd: will the event cross 5,000 people, the threshold in Karnataka’s proposed crowd-control law (PRS Legislative Research)?
- Access: metro, cab bays, parking inside the premises and a separate artist and crew route
- Load-in: truck access, ground bearing, setup days and the cost of each extra day
- Power: on-site supply, generator positions and fuel access
- Licences: does the venue already hold music or liquor licences, and what will we still need?
How much does it cost to rent a concert venue in Bangalore?
Few venues publish rates. BIEC is the exception, which makes it a useful benchmark.
| Line | What we found | Note |
|---|---|---|
| BIEC Jacaranda hall (bare) | ₹2,28,135 a day plus taxes, about 1,400 theatre (BIEC rate card) | Published April 2025–March 2026 card; staging, AV and catering extra |
| Hotel lawns and halls | Quoted per event, often with a food-and-beverage minimum | Varies by date and season |
| Open grounds | Quoted per day including setup and dismantle days | Generators, flooring, toilets and barricades are separate lines |
