Live band for corporate events · BangaloreThe awards end at 9:40. The floor is full by 9:45.
Live bands, DJs and band-plus-DJ nights for annual days, award nights and company parties in Bangalore — with sound, stage and timings sized for your room, not the band’s showreel.
How do you book a live band or DJ for a corporate event in Bangalore?
Match the act to the audience and the room first: languages, eras, set length and headcount. Then get a written quote that names the musicians, sets and equipment, confirm who supplies sound and lights, fix the sound-check slot and music licences, and plan to the venue’s cut-off — outdoor loudspeakers stop at 10 pm.
Music decides whether the second half of a corporate night works. Get it right and the room stays long after the last award. Get it wrong and the floor stays empty while the band plays to itself. India’s Noise Pollution Rules restrict loudspeakers in open areas from 10 pm to 6 am; closed venues such as auditoria, conference rooms and banquet halls are exempt (Noise Pollution Rules summary). So most Bangalore party nights either run indoors after 10 pm or end the outdoor segment on time.
The music rarely fails on its own. It fails on the brief.
- The band played for themselves.A long set of deep cuts to a room of finance teams and their families. We brief the setlist against the audience: languages, decades, and the songs everyone knows.
- The sound was built for a pub.A band’s own small rig cannot fill a 600-person ballroom. We size the speakers and monitors for the room and the band’s rider.
- The lawn went silent mid-song.Outdoor loudspeakers stop at 10 pm. We plan the last outdoor song for 9:55 and move the after-party indoors.
- Dead air between awards and the dance floor.A ten-minute changeover kills momentum. The DJ is line-checked during dinner so the handover takes seconds.

From the first song to the last call, one plan
- Shortlist of bands and DJs with full live videos, matched to your audience
- Setlist brief: languages, decades, must-plays and a do-not-play list
- Sound, monitors and lights sized for the room, checked against the band’s rider
- Stage plot, power for backline and a front-of-house position with a clear view
- Sound check before doors and a changeover plan between band, awards and DJ
- Music-licence check with the venue for recorded and live music
- Timings planned to the venue’s cut-off and the 10 pm outdoor rule
Bands for corporate events: band, DJ or both?
Pick the format by the moment you want, not by habit. Most big Bangalore nights use two: a band for the peak and a DJ to carry the floor to close.
| Format | Best for | Room size | How it usually runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acoustic duo or trio | Welcome drinks, leadership dinners, networking | Up to about 150 | Background sets at conversation volume |
| Four- to six-piece cover band | Annual days, award nights, partner galas | 200–1,500 | Two or three sets with breaks; needs a stage, backline and monitors |
| Fusion or Indian ensemble | Openings, Diwali nights, dealer meets | Any | A 20–40 minute feature set |
| DJ | After-parties, cocktails, family days | Any | Open-ended, builds through the night |
| Band plus DJ | Annual-day after-party, year-end party | 300+ | Band at the peak, DJ takes over without a gap |
| Celebrity DJ | Launch nights, large parties | 500+ | Booked like a headliner — see artist booking |

Confirm whether the act brings its own sound and lights or the venue provides them. Travel, rooms and GST are extra.
Stage, sound and power: what a band needs
Most band problems are production problems. This is the checklist we run against every rider.
Stage
- Deep enough for a drum riser, amps and the singer’s front line
- Steps and a clear route from the green room
- Skirting and a backdrop that hides cables and cases
Sound
- Speakers sized for the room, not the band’s pub rig
- Monitors or in-ear mixes as per the rider
- Front-of-house desk with a clear view of the stage
Power and timing
- Separate, stable power for backline and sound
- Generator backup where the venue needs it
- Sound check before doors, never during dinner

A corporate party playlist plan, by phase
Corporate audiences span four decades and several languages. The plan, not the DJ’s personal taste, keeps everyone in.
| Phase | Time (example) | What plays | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arrival | 19:00–19:45 | Instrumental, lounge, retro Hindi and English classics | Conversation level |
| Programme | 19:45–21:30 | Walk-up stings for awards and speakers, cued by the show caller | Short and loud on cue |
| Dinner | 21:30–22:00 | Mid-tempo crowd favourites to warm the room | Low to medium |
| Floor opener | 22:00 | The songs every generation knows: Bollywood dance anthems, a Kannada hit for a Bangalore crowd, Punjabi bhangra | Building |
| Peak | 22:15–23:15 | Requests from the brief, regional and international mix | Full, indoors |
| Last song | Agreed close | One song the whole company sings together | — |
Do-not-play list in every brief: explicit lyrics, songs tied to a competitor’s ads, and anything politically or religiously charged. Playing recorded and live music at events can need licences, and which society applies is disputed (Legal 500, Nov 2024); we check with the venue. See music licences for events.
