The short answer

The short answer on Bangalore’s best months

The best time for an outdoor event in Bangalore is December to February, when the city averages under 16 mm of rain a month and evenings are cool. September and October are the wettest months, at about 186–208 mm each, so October lawn events need a covered plan. Indoor events work all year.

What it means

Season by season in Bangalore

Indoor events in Bangalore are rarely weather-bound; outdoor and resort events are.

  • December–February. Dry and cool, ideal for lawn dinners, family days and outdoor annual days. It is also the heart of the October–February corporate season, when large ballrooms and convention halls book early.
  • March–May. April is the hottest month at about 34 °C (Bengaluru IMD normals 1991–2020); pre-monsoon thunderstorms arrive in the evenings. Indoor conferences are fine; outdoor events start after sunset.
  • June–July. The monsoon starts around 3 June (IMD normal monsoon dates (2020)) but Bangalore’s June and July are moderate at about 110–116 mm a month. Good value for indoor events.
  • August–October. The wettest stretch — September averages about 208 mm and October about 186 mm. Many annual days and Diwali parties fall here, so outdoor plans need a covered option.
Worked example

Planning a Diwali party on a terrace

An HR team wants a 300-person Diwali party on a hotel terrace in Bangalore in late October. October averages about 186 mm of rain over nearly ten rainy days (Bengaluru IMD normals 1991–2020), so the terrace is plan A only if the hotel holds an indoor ballroom as plan B on the same evening, at an agreed switch time — say 2 pm on the day. Décor, sound and lighting are designed to move, and the loudspeaker segment ends by 10 pm because a terrace is open air (Noise Rules 2000).

A December date removes most of the rain risk but competes with year-end parties for the same venues. See corporate Diwali parties.

What changes the answer

What changes the answer

  • Indoor or outdoor. Hotel ballrooms and convention halls make the weather almost irrelevant.
  • Venue demand. October–February is peak season; book three to six months ahead for 300+ guests.
  • Resorts around Bangalore. Nandi Hills, Coorg and Chikmagalur follow their own rainfall patterns; we check local normals for the resort, not the city’s.
  • Traffic and calendar. Festivals, long weekends and quarter-end close affect attendance more than weather.
FAQ

Questions people ask before they book

Which month is best for an outdoor event in Bangalore?
January is the driest month, averaging under 2 mm of rain, with December and February close behind. Evenings are cool, so lawn dinners and outdoor annual days work well. Book early — it is peak corporate season. Have a covered fallback anyway.
Does it rain a lot in Bangalore in October?
Yes. October averages about 186 mm over nearly ten rainy days, second only to September. Outdoor events in October need a covered or indoor fallback booked for the same evening. Agree a switch time with the venue on the day, so décor and production can move in time.
When is the monsoon in Bangalore?
IMD’s normal onset over Bengaluru is 3 June. June and July are moderate; the heaviest rain comes in August to October, with September the wettest month. Bangalore’s annual rainfall averages about 1,078 mm, far less than Goa or Kerala, so indoor events run all year.
We want to hold our 800-person annual day outdoors in Bangalore — which month?
December to February. The rain risk is lowest and evenings are pleasant. Book the venue three to six months ahead because large spaces fill in this season, and plan the loudspeaker programme to end by 10 pm outdoors. Keep a covered dining option.
Is Bangalore too hot for events in April?
April is the hottest month, averaging about 34 °C by day, and evening thunderstorms begin. Indoor events are unaffected; outdoor events should start after sunset with a cover plan. April and May also bring more evening thunderstorms than the winter months, with about 4–7.5 rainy days each, so lawn events need a cover plan.
When is peak season for corporate events in Bangalore?
October to February. Large ballrooms and convention halls book early in this window, and Friday and Saturday evenings go first. For 300+ guests, start three to six months ahead. It overlaps the city’s driest months, December to February, which is why outdoor dates go fastest. June and July give better venue availability for indoor events.
